Question 1

What is Cargopilot?

Accepted Answer

Cargopilot is a logistics operations platform for shippers, fleets and forwarders. It covers carrier quotations and booking, waybills and labels, route planning, fleet management, tracking, customs and clearance, and a carrier network, for parcels, pallets and containers.

Question 2

Who is Cargopilot for?

Accepted Answer

Teams that move goods every day and have outgrown shipping-label software, but do not want a transport management suite with a long implementation. Typical users are dispatchers, fleet managers, logistics managers, customs staff, freight forwarders, and carriers that want more shippers.

Question 3

What problems does Cargopilot solve for carriers and couriers?

Accepted Answer

Cargopilot turns your rate card into an API, prices by geozone, distance or customer, and makes you a suggested carrier for the retailers already on the platform. Waybills, labels and a delivery page for the receiver cut the paperwork and the status calls.

Question 4

What problems does Cargopilot solve for forwarders and customs brokers?

Accepted Answer

Cargopilot keeps one tracking record for a consignment across every partner and handoff, compares forwarding options, and runs HS code classification, dangerous-goods checks and customs declarations as workflows on the shipment.

Question 5

What problems does Cargopilot solve for retailers, distributors and eCommerce?

Accepted Answer

Cargopilot picks the carrier for each order by cost, speed or rule, prints the label, and sends tracking to the customer. If you run your own vans, it plans the routes and books the overflow with a carrier, from the same list of shipments.

Question 6

How does Cargopilot relate to Miridia?

Accepted Answer

Cargopilot is a Miridia product. Miridia is our supply chain and automation platform: procurement, production, inventory, orders, distribution, and demand planning. Cargopilot is its logistics product. Miridia gives Cargopilot a shipment, and Cargopilot does the logistics work and writes the status back. You get one account, one login and one bill. See miridia.io for the supply chain side.

Question 7

Can I get instant delivery rate quotations across carriers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cargopilot connects to major international carriers like UPS, DHL and FedEx as well as a growing network of local and regional carriers, and returns quotations you can present or select automatically. You can also onboard your own logistics partners and quote against their rates.

Question 8

The logistics provider or carrier I want to use isn't listed. Can you still support it?

Accepted Answer

No problem. We've built custom logistics integrations for several customers and can build yours. If our team thinks the integration could benefit other customers, we build it at no additional cost.

Question 9

Can Cargopilot handle more than parcels?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Beyond parcels, Cargopilot supports pallet and container shipments, with quotations from many logistics partners. This makes it suitable for wholesale, distribution and freight-forwarding work that pure parcel platforms don't cover.

Question 10

Can I forward a shipment across more than one partner?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Parcel forwarding hands a parcel, pallet or container to another logistics partner mid-journey, with tracking across each handoff and a cost comparison across the forwarding options.

Question 11

Can I handle returns?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A return is booked as a shipment, with the same quotation and label flow as an outbound parcel. A workflow can approve returns automatically under a threshold and tell the warehouse.

Question 12

Can I plan multi-stop routes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Group deliveries and collections by geozone, delivery window and vehicle capacity. Route optimisation workflows order the stops and assign each route to a vehicle.

Question 13

Can I manage vehicles and drivers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Record vehicles with their type, capacity and status, and drivers with their assignments and working areas. Geozone boundaries keep a driver or a vehicle inside the region it serves.

Question 14

Can I use my own fleet and carriers together?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your own vehicles and your contracted carriers sit in one plan. Stops that do not fit a route go to the carrier that suits the zone, by a rule you set.

Question 15

Can I capture telemetry from my vehicles?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Because nearly every operation is available through the API and the platform is event-driven, telemetry such as location or temperature readings can be received and used to start workflows. This is usually set up as a custom integration for your hardware.

Question 16

Can my customers track their delivery?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The receiver gets a delivery page with the current status, a choice of preferred delivery time, a channel for questions, and a way to start a return or a claim.

Question 17

Can I be told when a delivery goes wrong?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Exception alerts flag late or failed deliveries, and a workflow can escalate them by email, Slack, Telegram or another channel.

Question 18

Can I automate sending customers quotations via email?

Accepted Answer

Yes. This is usually a custom workflow that starts on the right event and emails the quotation automatically. If it's central to how you sell, speak to our consultants about a permanent solution.

Question 19

Can I manage HS codes for customs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cargopilot includes HS code management for each product, so international shipments carry the right classification without anyone typing it again.

Question 20

Can Cargopilot prepare customs declarations?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Customs declarations and export documents are produced from the shipment data, and a workflow can calculate tariffs and duties before the booking. Duties, insurance and other costs are recorded against the shipment.

Question 21

Can I screen for dangerous goods?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Dangerous-goods classification runs as a workflow on the shipment, so a restricted item is found before the booking.

Question 22

Does Cargopilot replace a licensed customs broker or a full forwarding suite?

Accepted Answer

No. Cargopilot prepares and documents the work, and it suits shippers, carriers and mid-size forwarders. A large forwarder that needs certified electronic filing with many customs authorities, or ocean and air consolidation, is better served by a dedicated forwarding suite.

Question 23

How does workflow extensibility work?

Accepted Answer

Cargopilot is event-driven. Shipment, quotation and tracking events can be subscribed to and extended with workflow tools like N8N, Power Automate, Zapier, or custom webhooks, so you can build almost any logistics process without changing the core product.

Question 24

Where do my shipments come from?

Accepted Answer

From Miridia, which syncs orders from Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, BigCommerce and Amazon, or directly from your own systems through the API. Tracking and status go back the same way.

Question 25

Can I build AI-enabled workflows?

Accepted Answer

Yes. With workflow tools like N8N you can build AI-enabled automations for customer support on shipment questions, anomaly detection on delivery exceptions, and quotation follow-ups.

Question 26

How extensive is the API?

Accepted Answer

Nearly every logistics operation is available through the REST API: shipments, quotations, labels, tracking, routes, vehicles, drivers, geozones and rate cards. The platform also publishes events you can subscribe to.

Question 27

How is Cargopilot priced?

Accepted Answer

Cargopilot is a licence that you add to a Miridia plan. Miridia Starter is 150 euro per month (R3,000 in South Africa), and Enterprise has custom pricing. The Cargopilot licence has a separate price on either plan, so ask us for a quotation. You get one subscription and one bill.

Question 28

Can I buy Cargopilot without Miridia?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. At this time Cargopilot is sold as a licence on a Miridia plan. A standalone Cargopilot plan will come later.

Question 29

Is there a free trial?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you're interested in a free trial or a discounted version of the product, reach out to us and we'll see what we can arrange based on your requirements.

Question 30

Do I get API access?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Full API access is included on both the Starter and Enterprise plans.

Question 31

Which countries and currencies are supported?

Accepted Answer

We offer services in South Africa, The Netherlands, the UK, Germany, Belgium and the US, with support for EUR, GBP, USD and ZAR. Additional countries can be added on request.

Question 32

Is Cargopilot GDPR compliant?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cargopilot provides GDPR (EU and UK) and POPI (South Africa) compliant data handling, with data export and self-hosted deployment options for data sovereignty requirements.

Question 33

Can I self-host Cargopilot?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Self-hosted deployment is available on the Enterprise plan for organisations with data sovereignty or specific infrastructure requirements.

Question 34

How is my data isolated from other customers?

Accepted Answer

Each organisation's business data lives in its own isolated schema, separate from identity and routing data. Combined with self-hosted options on Enterprise, this gives you strong tenant isolation and clear control over where your data resides.

Question 35

Can I produce ESG or sustainability reporting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Because shipment and carrier data flows through Cargopilot, it can feed emissions and sustainability reporting workflows, or your own BI tool through the API.

Question 36

Is every shipment change recorded?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each shipment status change, quotation and booking is recorded, so you can show who did what and when.
